Through a compilation of thematic short fiction, Objects of Worship takes us on a journey of the weird. Delving into the darkest corners of “primal myths“, bringing forth the inner workings of characters that are rarely seen on paper, we find a highly skilled writer at work. Often times such collections might have one or two entertaining stories with the rest falling flat and boring you to tears, but not here. Lalumiere has truly impressed crafting each story with an obvious dogma and function within the overall theme.
A superhero’s son struggles with his legacy and his religion, strange gods rule and impregnate a world of only women, zombies breed humans… sprinkle in acolytes, shape shifters, and chimera and you have a most engrossing and disturbing collection. I was deliciously disgusted and perturbed, the religious and philosophical receptors of my mind finally tickled by something more then the mass market flood.
